{Katie+Jeremy}{September 12, 2015}{Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium}{Tacoma, WA}

My last scheduled wedding of the season always resonates different emotions with me.  Nervousness, because I want everything to be perfect as always, excitement because it is exciting to be apart of a couples special day and sadness because I am wrapping up another great season!  Katie and Jeremy’s wedding was no different.

I met Katie and Jermey through a mutual friend, Kristina, who was one of her bridesmaids.  Katie and Jeremy are a very laid back and fun loving couple.  They would have LOVED to get married in Hawaii, but Jeremy has a very LARGE family and they knew it would be too difficult to get everyone there to share in their wedding day, so they decided the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium would be a good fit and still give them the beach feel they desired.

Katie, Jeremy, wedding party and family spent the day getting ready at the Courtyard Marriot in downtown Tacoma and wandering around different parts of Tacoma, taking beautiful photos.

The decor they chose for around the venue was simple, but kept within the beach theme.

It was a perfect end of summer evening.  Because the zoo is a functioning business, we couldn’t get in for set-up until 5:00pm, so Katie and Jeremy held their ceremony a little later at 6:30pm.  By then, the sun had begin setting and left a warm breeze in the air.  Mt. Rainier graced us for a backdrop to their ceremony and sat behind a wood arbor adorned with 2 pillars and gorgeous floral displays in yellow and coral.  It was a beautiful ceremony delivered by the grooms brother in law.  Heartfelt and setimental words were said, as well as some jokes and giggles.  The bride and groom did a sand ceremony to signify their two lives joining as one.  During that, the couple was very playful, which showed their true personalities together.  These two are always laughing!

Following the ceremony, guests were invited into the upper aquarium for a cocktail hour while the bride and groom finished some pictures and the reception room was finalized.

Once catering was ready, guests were asked to find a seat and the new Mr. and Mrs. McCarthy were introduced into the reception.  Catering served a delicious spread of food and following dinner, very sweet toasts were given to the couple.  You could see that this couple is something special and truely loved by those they surround themselves with.  From toasts we moved to the cake cutting.  Katie and Jeremy had a small cake for this and a beautiful display of cupcakes for their guests to enjoy.

The new husband and wife shared their first dance after the cake cutting, followed by a sweet dance with Katie and her father and an unexpected dance with Jeremy and his mother.  Without anyone knowing, Jeremy and his mother put together an unbelievably coreograhped routined with all the popular and well known ‘dance’ songs.  The crowd loved it!

The guests were then gathered for the bouquet and garter toss.  Lots of single ladies and gentlemen!

From there the DJ went right into the cupid shuffle and the dance floor erupted.  My assistant Milissa and I said our goodbyes and left for the evening.  From what I heard, a good time was had by all!

Thank you Katie and Jeremy for allowing me to be such a big part of your wedding day.  I really enjoyed getting to know you both and your families and I wish you nothing but the best in your future as Mr. and Mrs. McCarthy!  Congrats!
